When I was little, birthdays were the highlight of the month. You knew your birthday was coming up and that meant your mom would bring cupcakes to school, you would get a birthday party where you were queen (or king) of the day, and the gifts!!! Need I say more??
In later years, there were fun milestones...13 - finally a teenager , 16 - you could drive, 18 - your parents couldn't (technically) tell you what to do, 21 - you could drink.
After your 21st, birthdays became a reason to just celebrate (when I say celebrate I mean...a reason to go out drinking and just have fun).
My birthday this year, so far, has been a lot of fun. I am lucky that I have so many great friends who want to celebrate a birthday weekend with me, however, at the same time - and I never thought this would happen - I feel a little bit like the clock is ticking.
My husband and I have discussed having a child and getting older, but with everything we get to do, it seems so much easier to keep putting it off just six months more. I know when we get pregnant our lifestyle will change, at least for a little while, and that is a slightly daunting predicament.
However, time marches on. For now, I will enjoy my birthday weekend, knowing, in the back of my mind, perhaps, next year at this time we will be celebrating something more exciting than just another birthday.

Happy belated birthday! I hope you had a great one and wish you many, many more in the future.
I have had more birthdays than I ever thought possible. They never get old although we do....how does that happen? Congratulations. Michele sent me by the way...
Hi! Here from Michele's. You don't say when your birthday was/is, but have a super one! Eat lots of good cake and drink good champage. It's your day and you deserve it!
Happy Birthday! I still like to celebrate. My birthday is the day after my Dad's so I like to remind him that I am his most expensive birthday gift ever (braces, flute lessons, car insurance, college, etc.)
Thanks for swinging by my blog btw!
